Incident Details: The crew of a yacht in Trellis Bay awoke and saw their in-the-water and not locked center console tender (plus 2-3 others) being stolen, and towed away at 0100HRS. A police report was made.

UPDATE: the owner investigated a nearby area and was told a $600 USD ransom was required for the recovery of the 3 dinghies. The ransom was paid, and 2 engineless dinghies were reclaimed in East End Bay, Tortola. The second dinghy is now safely stored in Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbour, and can be claimed with proper proof of ownership. The police were informed of the ransom/recovery.

Incident Details: Overnight, an in-the-water and not locked dinghy/outboard was stolen from a yacht anchored near the Drowned Cays. The owners found the painter line had been cut. A report was made to the police and the Coast Guard. The Coast Guard recovered the dinghy, minus the engine.

Incident Details: The owners of the normally occupied Canadian flagged yacht Great Habit anchored near Frigate Island were advised that a suspicious boat had visited the yacht shortly before it disappeared from the anchorage between 2200-2300HRS. Reports have been made to the Union Island police (Sgt. Forde +1 784 491 5891) and the SVG Coast Guard. Do not approach this vessel, but report any sightings or information to your local authorities.

UPDATE 5/14/2026. Officials in Venezuela have contacted the victim through the SVG police. The boat has been located and is now in the custody of the Venezuelan Coast Guard, the owner will soon begin the process of effecting recovery/return.

Incident Details: Overnight 2 in-the-water and not locked paddle boards were stolen from a yacht anchored at Starfish Beach. The owners notified other cruisers and walked the beach and searched the nearby mangroves, with no luck. Then they departed. About 45 minutes later another cruiser in the bay noticed some teenage boys using 2 paddleboards that matched the description, and then watched them hide the boards behind a local business. The owners returned and found the hidden boards and “recovered” them. The owner of the business asked if all was okay and they indicated they were their boards and got a thumbs up.
