2295 – Theft in Dominica – Prince Rupert Bay – Madiba dingy dock

Incident Details: The crew went ashore to enjoy reggae night at Madiba at about 11:30PM, and did not lock the dinghy to the dock. About 30 minutes later, they decided to return to the yacht and found that the dinghy was gone. They advised the restaurant, who summoned both the police and PAYS who did a search, and then returned the crew to the yacht moored nearby. PAYS and the coast guard conducted further searches the next day, but the dinghy was not located. A police report was made.

Incident Details: Overnight while owners slept, items were stolen from their in-the-water, not locked dinghy. Missing in the morning were the fuel tank, the fuel line, a spotlight and flipflops. An attempt to remove the outboard was evident, but unsuccessful as one of the transom clamps was broken previously and required tools to operate, and the other clamp was found in a fully open position.
