3876 – Theft in Guatemala – Rio Dulce – San Filipe

Stolen Items: Dinghy (11 foot hard dinghy, Reg FL 6825PX (recovered)), Outboard Motor (15HP Yamaha Enduro 6B4K-1508739)

Incident Details: Overnight, while the owners slept onboard their in-the water and not locked dinghy/outboard was stolen. They found both lines securing it alongside had been cleanly cut. The 11ft. hard dinghy is distinctive, home-built and painted green on the outside, white on the inside. The engine was padlocked to the dinghy.

A report was made on the VHF net and a police was made.

CSSN UPDATE: The dinghy was found nearby, but engineless, later the same day.

Incident Details: Owners anchored in Livingston heard a bump against the hull. The captain went topsides and found the painter on the hoisted (davits) and locked dinghy had been cut. The two individuals in an unlit kayak who were attempting to board paddled away quickly. A report was made to the Port Captain.

Incident Details: During daylight hours a swimmer boarded and entered a yacht at Manglar Marina. He defeated the lock on the companionway. The burglar stole cash, a flashlight, Bluetooth speakers and a dry bag to carry it in. The yacht’s camera system captured clear images that were shared with the marina and police.
