Incident Details A cruising yacht with 2 persons onboard anchored for the night at Anse Canaries. No other cruising yachts were nearby. At 0100HRS they were awoken by noise and the captain went topsides and found 1 of 2 men on a kayak had boarded. The captain pushed the man into the water. The 2 men threatened the captain/crew by sharing their intention to return with a gun and kill them, and then departed.||The police were called, and the marine police arrived in less than 1 hour to take a report.||CSSN NOTE: An assault/armed robbery occurred in this anchorage in July 2022 as follows:||• DATE: 2022-07-08 20:00|LOCATION: Saint Lucia – Anse Canaries|EVENT: Robbery|HAND: 1|STOLEN ITEMS: Cash and personal electronics – tablet, cell phone|SECURED: Does not apply|DETAILS: At about 2000HRS two men armed with hand guns boarded a catamaran that had stopped for safe harbor overnight in the north end of Canaries Bay, St. Lucia, while on passage from Martinique to St Vincent. They held the singlehanding owner/captain at gunpoint in the salon and demanded cash and electronics that were readily surrendered. A demand for the “big money” was made but there was no large stash to surrender. After about 45 minutes the 2 left with what was assumed to be a third man who had remained in their boat. There were no injuries to the captain or damage to the yacht. Incident Details Captain and crew left the yacht in the anchorage in Gouyave . Between 1700-2000HRS, well prepared thieves broke into the locked yacht by completely destroying a hatch . The boat was ransacked and electronics, personal items, clothing and diesel were stolen. A police report was made.

Incident Details Cruisers locked their AB dinghy upside down to a tree on the beach for bottom cleaning, and found it had been stolen when they returned a few days later. The thieves came prepared with tools to cut the robust lock/cable and a vehicle to remove the dinghy. Video surveillance from the resort was provided to the police.

Incident Details A cruising couple on their yacht on an SMMA mooring were awoken and boarded at 0030HRS by 4 masked/hooded men with knives and machetes. The thieves stole electronics (phone,tablet,computer) and personal items (clothing). The crew was not injured. A police report was made, no forensics were taken.||CSSN NOTE: approximately one month ago a similar incident was reported at this location, see 2876 .

Incident Details A dinghy was locked to the pontoon in Saint Anne at about 1030HRS. When the crew came back, a little before noon, the dinghy/outboard had been stolen. The stainless steel cable and padlock were lying cut, underwater. A police report was made.

Incident Details Crew left their unlit and anchored yacht unlocked and went ashore for dinner from 1830-2130HRS. When they returned they found that a thief had boarded and entered the yacht and stolen a Honda generator and fishing gear from the salon.

Incident Details Overnight while owners slept onboard their catamaran anchored at Surfside beach, thieves stole their in-the-water and not locked dinghy. It is not known if a police report was made. ||UPDATE: a search was made the next day and the dinghy minus the outboard/fuel tank/oars was found in the mangroves, along with a another dinghy that had been stolen earlier in the week (see 2891)

Incident Details A cruiser cable locked their dinghy to the Leader price dock at 1400HRS, and found it had been stolen when they returned 30 minutes later. The Coast Guard (CrossAg), Marine police and the marina were notified. Officials suggested a police report be made, and did not assist in a search. The victim and friends searched ashore in the area between Mango Bay and the fisherman's harbor and found the stolen dinghy/outboard there, about 500 meters from the dock.

Incident Details Overnight an unoccupied day charter catamaran had its dinghy/outboard stolen from the davits. It was not locked. It is not known if police report was made.||UPDATE : October 2, 2022 A search was made after a cruising sailboat had its dinghy/outboard stolen overnight on 10/1 (see 2890) . Both stolen and now engineless dinghies were found together in the mangroves. Video from the marina was not helpful as another boat blocked the camera view of the stern of the day catamaran.
