3844 – Theft in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines – Union – Frigate Island

Incident Details: The owners of the normally occupied Canadian flagged yacht Great Habit anchored near Frigate Island were advised that a suspicious boat had visited the yacht shortly before it disappeared from the anchorage between 2200-2300HRS. Reports have been made to the Union Island police (Sgt. Forde +1 784 491 5891) and the SVG Coast Guard. Do not approach this vessel, but report any sightings or information to your local authorities.

UPDATE 5/14/2026. Officials in Venezuela have contacted the victim through the SVG police. The boat has been located and is now in the custody of the Venezuelan Coast Guard, the owner will soon begin the process of effecting recovery/return.

Incident Details: Overnight an in-the-water and not locked dinghy/outboard was stolen from a yacht anchored in Admiralty Bay.

The dinghy was returned to the yacht the next day after a $300ECD fee was paid.

CSSN UPDATE: The victim has clarified his initial input. The engine was locked to the dinghy, but the dinghy was not locked to the yacht. It had been tied to to the yacht with new/perfect condition rope, that was found “broken”.

Incident Details: Owners aboard a catamaran in Saline Bay found their unlocked dinghy had been stolen during the early evening hours while tied at the stern. A police report was made the next day.

Incident Details: Owner was sleeping in the cockpit overnight. A thief boarded and entered the yacht undetected, and stole cash from a wallet. An iPhone and and iPad were not disturbed.||CSSN NOTE: there have now been 2 recent thefts in this bay (see 3667). More than 30 thefts have occurred here in the past. If you are a victim please make a police report so that officials can address this problem.

Incident Details: Cruisers returned to the main dinghy dock with friends at 1915HRS and as the second dinghy was departing some young men began hurling objects/rocks at them from the dinghy dock and stuck one of the cruisers in the head. Injuries were described as minor and both crews returned to their yachts. ||It is not known if a police report was made.

Incident Details: Owners were down below with lights on when they heard noises at 2230HRS. They made some noise and then went out to investigate. They were shocked to see a man sitting on their swim platform, and began yelling at him to leave. The intruder got back in the water and swam away.||CSSN NOTE: A second boat in this anchorage experienced a theft this same night.
