Incident Details A kayak stored tied up in a tree in Mt. Hartmann Bay was stolen between January 22-27. A police report was made.||It was found in the mangroves several days later with a paddleboard that had also been stolen from a yacht in the Secret Harbor Marina. (See 3222) A large tactical knife and a length of pipe/rebar was found under the seat. The knife was turned over to the police.||Both the kayak and the SUP were returned to their owners.

Incident Details Owners of a catamaran docked at Secret Harbor Marina discovered their standup paddle board had been stolen from their deck overnight. A report was made to the Marina.||Several days later a swimmer noticed the SUP and a missing kayak hidden along the nearby mangroves and advised the marina, who came and collected it . The owner of the kayak was also located and reunited with his kayak (see 3221).

Incident Details With permission from the Marina de Salinas, owners left their dinghy at their dock at 0900HRS. At 1700HRS when they returned the bow chamber of their 11'AB was completely deflated. They were able to return to their yacht and upon inspection found that there were matching/aligning holes on both sides of the tube that were also present in their reinforced chaps. A report was made to the marina and the police.

Incident Details A yacht anchored alone in the Rio Chagres anchorage. On the third night the in-the-water and not locked dinghy was stolen. The owner had heard an outboard around 0430HRS and at 0500HRS he found the dinghy had been stolen. Incident Details At 0200HRS when it began to rain the crew of a yacht on a Soufriere Marine Management Association (SMMA) mooring off Malgretout beach awakened and closed a hatch as it started to rain. This likely startled a boarder who tripped and then fell back into the RIB dinghy that had been positioned alongside the yacht, in an apparent attempt to avoid the well lit cockpit. From a portlight the captain observed 3 hooded men in the RIB and then began yelling at the boarders. The 3 hooded men abandoned their attempt, started their outboard and left. ||The yacht made ready and departed for Rodney Bay ten minutes later. | |A report was made to the SMMA. The Marine Police did not answer their phone, but a voice message was left, but no contact has been made with the victim.

Incident Details A dinghy locked to the central dock in Great Harbour, Jost Van Dyke, was stolen between 2130-2200HRS. Serial numbers Aluminum deep-V 13-foot AB, Hull ID COXTM53014L314i and 30HP Tohatsu EverRun Serial # 047066AC. Reports were made to the BVI,BVI/USVI police, Coast Guard, the BVI Charter Yacht Society,  and the USVI equivalent, the VIPCA.||CSSN UPDATE: The victim have advised that with help from the local community and the BVI Marine Units of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force the dinghy has been recovered. All the dinghy contents (fuel tank, PFDs, depth sounder, swim ladder, lights, all lines, shoes, etc) were missing but the dinghy/outboard were both operational.

Incident Details A catamaran anchored in Simpson Bay and the crew went ashore for dinner. When they returned they found the electric scooters that had been left charging in the cockpit were missing. They assumed another crew member was using them and went to bed. The next morning they determined the scooters had been stolen, as well as a new in-the- box drone. The thieves had carefully rummaged the yacht and left behind cameras, computers, hard drives, etc. ||Ashore the next day they randomly encountered a man on one of the stolen scooters, and retrieved it. A full report was made to the Coast Guard and the police. The thieves were recognized as jet ski tour operators in the anchorage and identified, photos were provided to the police.

Incident Details A singlehander departed Santa Marta, Colombia, for the San Blas islands (Panama) and was attacked by pirates about 5 miles offshore Barranquilla, Colombia. The 3 pirates boarded and attacked the captain, beating him and then stabbing him with a knife they found onboard. They made 3 trips to his boat over a few hours time and stole many things including batteries, cables, sails, blocks, fenders +++ and they destroyed electronics.|| The captain was able to make phone contact with a friend in his home country between visits and they contacted their local rescue authorities who then made contact with the Colombian Coast Guard. ||The injured captain continued to repel the pirates' later visits with a hammer and flares, and cut a line they were using in an attempt to tow him toward shore. The pirates finally gave up. The Colombian Coast Guard arrived at the yacht about 30 minutes after the final visit by the pirates and provided assistance and then towed the yacht back to Santa Marta marina where the captain was taken by ambulance to the hospital, treated and kept overnight. ||Reports were made to the Coast Guard and the marina.

Incident Details Five men approached from land and broke into an unoccupied charter catamaran at the Polypat dock. They stole flares/flaregun that they then used to board another (occupied) yacht on the same dock (3190) and assaulted the crew. They later stole another unoccupied catamaran (see 3191) and crashed into the Sandy Ground bridge.
