Incident Details An unoccupied yacht in Mt. Hartman Bay was burgled between Aug 8-11. The break-in was discovered by the minder. (Victim #1 of 4) . See also 3905, 3906, 3907.

The thieves came prepared with tools and removed the screws on the companionway locking mechanism. The interior of the yacht was fully ransacked. The thieves left behind an outboard engine and personal electronics. The minder and owner are working to clean up the mess and determine what may have been stolen. This report will be updated when more information is available.

A report was made to the police and Coast Guard. The Coast Guard visited and took photos, but no forensics.

Incident Details A dinghy/outboard was locked to the Punta Rica dock on Bastimentos. Overnight, thieves cut the stainless steel cable that locked the Suzuki 20HP engine to the dinghy, and stole it. The dinghy was left behind and remained locked to the dock.

A police report was made.

Incident Details There were a few yachts anchored in the Red Frog anchorage. Overnight, between 2400-0500HRS, well prepared thieves stole the Yamaha 15HP outboard from a dinghy lifted in the davits of an occupied and well lit catamaran. The engine was chain locked, and also through-bolted to the dinghy transom. The galvanized chain was cut and the bolts were removed. The thieves left the dinghy suspended in the davits. A police report was made.

Incident Details Between 2030-0800HRS a Caribe dinghy/40HP Yamaha outboard tied to the Crown Bay Marina dinghy dock was stolen. It is not know if a police report was made.

Incident Details Overnight a small panga with Suzuki 15HP (the motor is very rough looking, faded black with pink undertones showing through in various places) was stolen from an occupied yacht anchored in Almirante. The panga was recovered (minus the outboard) the next day. No police report was made.

Incident Details The owner’s dog began barking and when the owner investigated he found 2 men attempting to steal the fishing gear from his rod holder. He began yelling and the men in the open boat/small engine departed.

Incident Details A power boat with 3 persons onboard stole several fuel jugs from the deck of an unoccupied motor yacht anchored in the bay. Video of the theft was made by cruisers on a nearby yacht, and provided to the owner and authorities.
