Incident Details Owners left the boat in Marlin Marina Cienfuegos for a few days. When they returned they found that a thief had stolen 2 pairs of dive fins from their unlocked cockpit locker , there was no damage and the thieves did not enter the locked yacht. (boat #2, see 2752)

Incident Details Overnight the in-the-water and not locked AB dinghy/15HP outboard was stolen. A verbal report was made to the Marine Park, and a police report was made at Union Island, SVG.

Incident Details A yacht owner was awakened when he heard sounds against the hull at 0445HRS on his first night in Chatham Bay. He found two males had come alongside in a small unpowered boat with padded gunwales, near the bow where the dinghy had been stored overnight on deck. He began yelling and they quickly rowed away, offering no explanation for their presence. The captain alerted the other 12 or so yachts in the anchorage by VHF and by ringing the yachts bell.

Incident Details A local yacht owner's dinghy was stolen from the sandbar area known as Old Harbour in Chemin Bay, Westerhall, over the weekend. The outboard was not left on the dinghy and the dinghy was chain locked to another larger boat but could have been accessed from land or seaside. A report was made to the Coast Guard.

Incident Details Owners discovered that the dinghy anchor and chain/rope rode had been cut and stolen from their locked-to the-dock dinghy. No police report was made.

Incident Details Owners were asleep onboard and awoke to voices at 0400HRs and overheard 2 men, one exclaimed in clear English “Oh f***, there is a chain and a lock”, and then some splashing was heard. Upon investigation the in-the-water dinghy was still chained to the yacht and no one was visible. Nothing was taken from the the dinghy.

Incident Details Two yachts were the only visiting yachts anchored in Buccament Bay, St. Vincent. On the second night of their stay, the singlehanded captain/owner of one of the yachts awoke when he was being choked by 1 of 2 men who had boarded through a closed but not locked companionway. After the attackers displayed a gun to ensure cooperation a cloth/hood was placed over the captains head and he was tied up. The thieves ransacked the boat taking cash and electronics (phone, computer, camera). The thieves seemed unprepared to take the lifted and chain locked dinghy from it davits. They departed in an unpowered boat, which authorities indicated may have been stolen from a nearby bay. ||A call was made on VHF 16 and a lighthouse station responded, and then contacted the Coast Guard, who arrived promptly and also contacted the police. The police arrived promptly to take a report, but no forensics were collected. ||CSSN NOTE: The thieves had attempted to board the other yacht earlier the same night, but were not successful when the owners awoke and were able to discourage the two men. VHF calls to their buddy boat (victim above), were not answered.

Incident Details Owners securely chain locked their dinghy (including fuel tank and anchor) to the dock along the busy waterfront near the Coast Guard station at about 1830HRS. When they returned 2 hours later, the only item not chain locked, a cooler used for storage, had been rifled, and most of the contents stolen. Stolen were the spotlight, stern light, rain ponchos, etc. The thief left the life vests. A police report was made.

Incident Details Three charter catamarans were boarded between 0200-0300 HRS while docked on their first night at the Marina Bas du Fort where the charters originated. Locked gates, surveillance cameras and a guard were not sufficient to deter the thieves who stole many items from the yachts' salons and from a dinghy.||Stolen were cash, personal electronics/phones, camera, personal documents, backpacks, snorkeling gear, clothing and a dinghy fuel tank with 20L of gasoline. The victims awoke and began yelling as the thieves departed by land. Detailed reports were made to the police, port captain, charter company and the marina office, but the surveillance video was not immediately made available to the investigation, and there seemed little interest/support from the marina and charter company. No progress had been made when the victims returned a week later at the end of their charter.
