Incident Details: A yacht was boarded in the early evening and the handle from the bilge pump was used to force the padlock from the companionway hatch. The boat was methodically tossed and laptops, electronics, fishing gear, flare gun/shells and large bolt/cable cutters were stolen. No damage other than the lock was done and it seemed that the intruder was efficient and likely only onboard for a very short time.

Incident Details: A foreign flagged yacht was secured/locked dockside in Marina Hemingway in mid-March, a local "minder" was required and hired as the crew was required to leave Cuba. On July 20, the minder reported that the yacht had been burgled. ||Many items had been stolen, a laptop, tablet, GPS, sat phone, binoculars, tools, flashlight, etc. The minder made reports on behalf of the owner to the marina and police. ||The police visited and collected forensics and additional information. Serial number information was not readily available as it was onboard and owners/crew have not been able to return due to travel restrictions. It is not known if other yachts in the Marina have been similarly affected.

Incident Details: An unoccupied yacht on a mooring was burglarized between 16-24 April. The minder discovered the break-in, thieves cut several locks on lazarettes and the companionway. Tools were used to remove 2 winches in the cockpit, also stolen were 15HP Yamaha, handheld VHF, dive gear, safety gear, a new uninstalled lithium battery still in its box, other items. The minder made a police report.

Incident Details: A yacht on a mooring in the bay was burglarized between 6-10PM while the crew was ashore. The thief broke into the boat via the companionway door. Cash and jewelry were stolen. Reports were made to all authorities – The Navy/commandante, the police and the tourist police. No forensics were conducted.||CSSN NOTE: This is the 6th report of boarding/break-in from Luperon bay in 2020. Cruisers and the Navy have begun nighttime patrols.

Incident Details: While ashore for dinner between 8-9:30PM a yacht was burgled, there was significant damage to the entry and severe ransacking of the interior. Thieves found and stole a laptop and iPhone, damaged textiles and other electronics (iPad and Google phone).||A police report was made, the police investigators indicated that similar events have occurred in this anchorage recently. The owner also indicated that a dinghy oar and fuel had been stolen at the dinghy dock.
