2914 – Burglary in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines – Bequia – Princess Margaret Beach

Incident Details: While the crew was away for dinner from 1900 hours to 2100 hours thieves boarded a monohull anchored off Princess Margaret Beach, and broke in thru the locked companionway. A computer, electronics and clothing were stolen. A police report was made.

Incident Details: Captain and crew left the yacht in the anchorage in Gouyave . Between 1700-2000HRS, well prepared thieves broke into the locked yacht by completely destroying a hatch . The boat was ransacked and electronics, personal items, clothing and diesel were stolen. A police report was made.

2935 – Burglary in Martinique (France) – Le Marin – anchorage

Incident Details: An unoccupied yacht anchored in Le Marin, Martinique, was burglarized for the second time (see prior incident 2835) while the owner was away. The minder discovered that a locked hatch had been compromised. The burglar came well prepared with tools and removed a refrigeration compressor, an installed halyard and additional sheets, blocks and pulleys, a 20kg Rocna anchor, coffee machine, flashlights and snorkeling gear. The minder moved aboard the boat, there were no further problems.|| The victim did not make a second police report.

Incident Details: A locked yacht on a mooring between Club Med and the marina was burgled during a 10 day period. The minder discovered that thieves had broken in thru a hatch and then removed ceiling panels to access and unbolt 3 Lewmar winches. The well prepared thieves also stole blocks and sheets from the topsides. A 6HP- 4S Suzuki outboard engine locked to its rail mount was also stolen. A police report is in process.

Incident Details: Owners discovered that their cruising yacht berthed at Marina Zar Par was burgled during the 8 weeks that they were away. Thieves stole cash, credit cards, a computer and speakers from the locked yacht. A report was made to the marina manager before the yacht departed.

2721 – Burglary in Martinique (France) – St. Pierre

Stolen Items: electronics – VHF and remote autopilot controller, a variety of safety gear including automatic lifejackets, horseshoe buoy, IOR pole, first aid kit, diving gear including BCD and regulator, a variety of tools and also the stored mainsail and other rigging gear.

Incident Details: A yacht moored and minded in St. Pierre was burgled, the owner discovered the break-in on his return. The thief broke the locking mechanism and entered though a deck hatch and carefully concealed the damage on departure. Much was stolen, and the the thief used some of the yachts travel bags to carry away some of the gear. Stolen were electronics, a mainsail, rigging pieces, dive gear, many tools and a variety of safety gear. |A police report is planned.

Incident Details: A catamaran at Royal Marine, Piscadera, Curacao was burgled. The tender and outboard were both raised and well locked to the yacht. The sliding door lock was broken and the interior fully ransacked. The dinghy/outboard and all valuable/easily portable items (mountain bike, drone, dive gear, camera equipment, tools, etc.) were also stolen. The owner reported the incident to the Royal Marine staff onsite who seemed aware of a similar problem occurring to another boat a few nights earlier. Incident Details: The owner and crew were absent from a yacht anchored off the Shack Bar in Fronteras from August 17 to September 22. When a crew member returned they discovered that the 5HP Yamaha outboard and a solar panel had been stolen from the deck. The thieves came prepared with tools, the outboard was cable locked to the stern pulpit and the solar panel strongly sealed to the deck.

Incident Details: A yacht on a private mooring off the marina was burgled between July 3-5, when the minder was absent from an adjacent mooring for a few days. The thief came prepared with tools and made no attempt to conceal the damage done breaking into the well locked yacht. The stolen items include a 15HP Yamaha outboard, a generator, binoculars, electronics (personal and chart plotter), a drone, tools and other items. Preliminary reports were made to the Linton Bay Marina, coast guard and police (Aeronaval). The owner will file formal reports on his return to Panama on July 12.
