Incident Details: Owners anchored in Livingston heard a bump against the hull. The captain went topsides and found the painter on the hoisted (davits) and locked dinghy had been cut. The two individuals in an unlit kayak who were attempting to board paddled away quickly. A report was made to the Port Captain.

Incident Details: A charter yacht moored in Diamond Cay. Overnight their in-the-water and well secured but not locked dinghy was stolen. They reported the theft to their charter company and while underway to get their replacement dinghy they saw and retrieved another (stripped/engineless) dinghy that was adrift. 3455 – Burglary in Sint Maarten (Kingdom of the Netherlands) – Simpson Bay Lagoon – Cole Bay

Incident Details: An unoccupied yacht in Cole Bay was burglarized between 9-15 December. Given recent activity in the area the owner requested their minder check and they discovered that the fully locked catamaran's sliding door had been jimmied/left open and a forward hatch was left open by intruders. A video was made and tools were missing. A complete listing will be made when a more complete video can be made/the owner returns. The minder assisted in filing a police report. The yacht was secured and owner/minder are awaiting any further direction from the police.

3458 – Burglary in Panama – Bocas del Toro – South anchorage

Incident Details: Daytime break-in and burglary of a locked yacht in the South anchorage. The sliding door was damaged and the interior was badly ransacked/damaged as well. Thieves stole all power tools, camera/accessories and passport/drivers license. A crowbar used by the thieves was left behind. 3429 – Attempted Theft in Saint Martin (France) – Lagoon – Witch’s Tit

Incident Details: A yacht anchored on the French side of the lagoon experienced an attempted boarding at 0030HRS. The yacht's security alarm and lights were activated and scared the thieves away. The French police were called |and language made it very difficult. Video footage was sent online to the French authorities. The Dutch Coast Guard was called but the incident was outside their jurisdiction. ||Several hours later a yacht on the Dutch side of the lagoon also experienced a similar boarding, but theives were successful. See 3434. ||At 0430HRS the thieves returned for a second attempt. The 2 thieves were again captured in video surveillance, and arrived in a large dinghy with 2 engines. A small electric/trolling engine (for quiet approach) and a larger outboard for getaway. They again departed quickly when discovered apparently unconcerned about video surveillance made obvious by signage. Officials (Dutch and French) were again notified of the attempted boarding.

Incident Details: A yacht in the Dutch-side lagoon was boarded while owners and guests slept onboard. The thieves entered the catamaran's cabins and stole phones and a tablet.||A report was made to the police and Coast Guard. Another boat was also boarded (twice) this same night, see 3429.

3436 – Burglary in Sint Maarten (Kingdom of the Netherlands) – Simpson Bay Lagoon

Stolen Items: Cash, all electrical devices and cables, and a backpack

Source Type: 1st Hand Report

Incident Details: A catamaran in the Dutch lagoon that experienced a boarding 2 days prior was boarded a second time and burgled between 1630-1930HRS. The thieves came prepared with tools and broke in through the locked doorway. ||The entire yacht was ransacked and the thieves stole cash, all electrical devices and cables, and a backpack to carry it all in. Reports were made to police and Coast Guard in both jurisdictions. Live tracking data for the stolen devices was provided.||UPDATE : Some of the stolen items have been recovered/returned by another cruiser who tracked his own stolen dinghy, see 3441.
