2566 – Attempted Theft in Antigua and Barbuda – Antigua – Falmouth Harbor

Incident Details: At approximately 2:00am a noise was heard along the hull. The captain found the salon door of the catamaran half open. Upon walking into the aft cockpit a man was found boarding an orange and yellow kayak just under the hoisted tender. The captain confronted the man to ask his business. No reply was heard, when asked again the man said he was fishing as he paddled away. The captain turned on the salon lights and awoke the other crew. Wet footprints were found in the salon and at the top of the stairs leading to each hull where persons were sleeping. A review of the yachts content was conducted with nothing found missing. An iPad, DVD binder, and other small miscellaneous items where on the salon table and untouched. The crew believe the intruder was chased off by the captain immediately after the boarding.

Incident Details: A monohull was boarded in the early hours of the morning, while 2 persons were asleep onboard. They found the saloon floor soaked in sea water, and cash missing from the top of chart table. No other items were taken. Incident Details: Owners were asleep onboard in Simpson Bay while their in-the-water cable locked dinghy was stolen overnight. The thieves cut the lock. A police report to Dutch authorities is planned.||UPDATE 2/2/2021 Dinghy was found intact with engine in location where it could not have gone by itself, possibly taken for a joyride or abandoned after being used for some other purpose.

Incident Details: A yacht anchored off Pigeon beach discovered that they had been boarded while they slept and cash taken from a wallet that was inside a dry bag, under the nav station. Nothing looked amiss and the theft was only discovered when the owners attempted to pay for a meal at a local eatery. Nothing else was taken, and 2 other yachts have reported similar events in Falmouth harbour on this same night. A police report was made.

Incident Details: A yacht was boarded in the early evening and the handle from the bilge pump was used to force the padlock from the companionway hatch. The boat was methodically tossed and laptops, electronics, fishing gear, flare gun/shells and large bolt/cable cutters were stolen. No damage other than the lock was done and it seemed that the intruder was efficient and likely only onboard for a very short time.
