Incident Details: Overnight while owners slept onboard their yacht anchored in Cumberland Bay, their in-the-water but not locked dinghy was stolen, despite having 2 lines securing it to the yacht. 2990 – Attempted Burglary in Dominica – Prince Rupert Bay – PAYS moorings

Stolen Items: not successful, thieves bent the mounting bracket on the stern pulpit where Honda outboard was mounted

Incident Details: A yacht anchored near the PAYS moorings found that their stern engine mount bracket had been bent during what would have been an attempt to steal the Honda outboard mounted there. No report was made as the damage was discovered when they arrived at their next harbor. No other damage was noted.

Incident Details: A yacht was boarded by 3 men armed with guns armed at 0030HRS. The family was robbed of phones and electronics. The captain was pistol whipped. ||The police were contacted, but were unable to provide timely transport so the victims used their own dinghy and proceeded immediately to the hospital for medical treatment. 2974 – Vandalism in Saint Lucia – Pitons

Incident Details: A cruising yacht approached the SMMA moorings between the Pitons intending to practice mooring pickup and self-moor. They were intercepted by aggressive boat boys who demanded excessive payment for unwanted services, which were declined. When the yacht attempted to pickup the mooring their boat hook became entangled in the lines which had been tied off underwater. The boat boys immediately retrieved the boat hook and then maliciously bent it, making it unusable. The boat boys were paid a fee in excess of the customary $20ECD recommended by the SMMA park rangers, and they hung at the boat in a menacing manner demanding additional payment for sometime before departing.

2982 – Theft in Colombia – Punta Canoas

Stolen Items: Genoa furling was cut and stolen

Incident Details: Owners decided to anchor for the night at 2130HRS at Punto Canoa after a long and tiring sail from Cabo de la Velas. They were the only boat in the anchorage. The crew awoke at 2330HRS when they heard people talking just beside their boat and shining lights into the cockpit. The captain went out and found 5-6 men in a panga claiming to be fishermen who thought they had run aground, and the men began asking many questions. One of them boarded, and asked for food. The captain spoke spanish and provided some food and asked that they leave to avoid problems since the yacht had not yet cleared in. The panga departed.||The next morning the crew found that the genoa furling line had been cut, and removed. A report was made to the marina on their arrival later that day.

Incident Details: The captain of a yacht on a mooring was awakened by noise at 0400HRS, and investigated. Two men were outside his cockpit door and when challenged claimed to be "just fishing because they thought the boat was empty". They did not have any fishing gear, only backpacks. The men left immediately without incident in a small rowboat. ||A report was made the next day to the Coast Guard and Port Captain, who indicated they had suspects and that there had been boardings/theft on several local dive boats the same night.
