Incident Details: The owners returned to the Simpson Bay marina dinghy dock and found that their dinghy had been ransacked, and several items stolen. The dinghy was locked to the dock, but the thief cut the fuel line and stole the fuel tank as well as the dinghy foot pump. A report was made to the marina.

Incident Details: The owners arrived at the marina dingy dock at about 2300HRS, and cable locked the dinghy before departing to a nearby venue. When they returned at 2355HRS they found that the dinghy had been rummaged through and the fuel tank stolen. They went immediately to the security kiosk and the guard reviewed the surveillance video. The thief had arrived by dinghy and rummaged through several of the dinghies, left, and then returned to steal their fuel tank before departing again.

No police report was made.

Incident Details: A cruiser’s dinghy was locked to the Sint Maarten Yacht Club (SMYC) dinghy dock, and the engine was locked to the dinghy. At 0530HRS thieves stole the outboard, and left the tools they used on the dock. Security footage shows 2 men loading the engine into a white van in the parking lot. A police report was made, and the license plate number and camera footage was provided to the police.

Incident Details: UPDATED REPORT : Victims have made contact and filed a firsthand report. ||Cruisers tied their dinghy to the Dutch Customs dock by the bridge at 1100HRS and went inside to complete formalities. Almost immediately the dinghy was stolen. Video surveillance captured the lurking thief and his rapid departure to the lagoon. ||The victims discovered the theft at 1400HRS when they returned to the dinghy dock after doing some errands .They immediately returned to the Customs office. Officials there contacted an inspector from the governmental Ministry of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Traffic and Telecommunications, the police and the Coast Guard on their behalf. The Ministry inspector arrived 2 hours later, the police 3 hours later and took reports. ||The victims made a report the next morning on the VHF net. Officials shared video surveillance / video footage with them. No follow-up from police or other officials has been made 4 days later. ||Dinghy : Highfield 310 classic. Incident Details: Between 2230 and 0300HRS an in-the-water and not locked dinghy was stolen from a yacht anchored in Simpson Bay while owners slept onboard. A search was made, without result. A police report was made.||UPDATE: Dinghy was found 24 January severely damaged.
