Incident Details: The captain of a yacht on a mooring was awakened by noise at 0400HRS, and investigated. Two men were outside his cockpit door and when challenged claimed to be "just fishing because they thought the boat was empty". They did not have any fishing gear, only backpacks. The men left immediately without incident in a small rowboat. ||A report was made the next day to the Coast Guard and Port Captain, who indicated they had suspects and that there had been boardings/theft on several local dive boats the same night.

Incident Details: A cruising couple anchored in Carlisle Bay and took the dinghy ashore and beached it on the side of the resort. They visited the public beach and afterwards were briefly questioned by the resort security guard. A young man in school uniform approached and asked them for "help" to use their phone or a ride to his mother on the other side of the bay. They agreed to a ride and when they were close to the shore the young man grabbed their dry bag and tried to escape, but was thwarted when the shocked cruiser pushed him into the water and retook the dry bag. The youth threatened to shoot them, but apparently had no gun and ran off and joined several other youths on the beach. The cruisers returned immediately to their yacht and departed the next morning.

Incident Details: At 1145HRS a cruiser noticed a man had started the engine and was attempting to cut the locking cable of a dinghy that was locked to the dinghy dock. She took a photo and asked the man if this was his dinghy and suggested the photo would be provided to the police. The unsuccessful thief departed. ||The owner was advised later and learned that another dinghy had been stolen from an anchored yacht a few nights previously. Incident Details: A crew member awoke at 0300HRS to noise in the cockpit, and did not investigate thinking it was the captain. The yacht was well secured, including all cockpit / lazarette lockers. Nothing was available to the thief, and they were not successful. Incident Details: Two workers in a forward cabin heard noise and found a man rifling a cabinet in the main cabin of a yacht on a private dock near Bruno’s. The thief had apparently thought the yacht was empty after seeing the owner go ashore. The workers recognized the thief and a police report was made.

Incident Details: Cruisers onboard their yacht were tied to a marina mooring in the inside harbor of Marigot Bay, St. Lucia. They were awakened at 0415HRS by footsteps/sounds of someone uncleating/dragging a line on the deck. They went to the cockpit and the intruder jumped overboard and swam quickly away and behind another boat towards the mangroves. The dinghy remained in the davits, minus the fuel line. A report was made to the marina.

Incident Details: Overnight, thieves attempted to steal the outboard from a raised and locked dinghy of an occupied catamaran. The next day the owners discovered that both transom clamps had been completely loosened, but the chain securing the outboard to the dinghy had prevented the theft.

Incident Details: A yacht owner was awakened when he heard sounds against the hull at 0445HRS on his first night in Chatham Bay. He found two males had come alongside in a small unpowered boat with padded gunwales, near the bow where the dinghy had been stored overnight on deck. He began yelling and they quickly rowed away, offering no explanation for their presence. The captain alerted the other 12 or so yachts in the anchorage by VHF and by ringing the yachts bell.
