Incident Details: A yacht anchored on the French side of the lagoon experienced an attempted boarding at 0030HRS. The yacht's security alarm and lights were activated and scared the thieves away. The French police were called |and language made it very difficult. Video footage was sent online to the French authorities. The Dutch Coast Guard was called but the incident was outside their jurisdiction. ||Several hours later a yacht on the Dutch side of the lagoon also experienced a similar boarding, but theives were successful. See 3434. ||At 0430HRS the thieves returned for a second attempt. The 2 thieves were again captured in video surveillance, and arrived in a large dinghy with 2 engines. A small electric/trolling engine (for quiet approach) and a larger outboard for getaway. They again departed quickly when discovered apparently unconcerned about video surveillance made obvious by signage. Officials (Dutch and French) were again notified of the attempted boarding.

Incident Details: A cable locked dinghy was stolen from the secure (ZMEL) section of the dinghy dock between Saturday night, 30 November, 2100HRS and Sunday, 1 December, 0100HRS. The cable was cut. ||Reports were made to the Port Captain, Police and Marina.||UPDATE: 9 December the dinghy was found by another boater and returned to the owner by the marine police. It had some minor damage and the original engine was gone, replaced by an old nonworking engine.

Incident Details: The owner left their yacht on a mooring in the French lagoon from March 30 – April 26. During that timeframe various items were stolen from the deck (6HP outboard/anchor/towing generator/winches removed +) and others were stolen with some effort from the unlocked but blocked interior. Incident Details: Cruisers anchored in the lagoon awoke at 0150HRS to sounds on their aft deck. A thief had boarded and was attempting to lower their raised and tied off dinghy/outboard. They began banging on the ceiling of their aft cabin and the thief aborted his efforts and jumped back in his dinghy and drifted a short way off while claiming he "needed gas". ||The cruisers used a spot light to light up the scene and began recording video. The thief had a second dinghy already in tow and departed the lagoon via the Sandy Ground bridge. ( See 3281) A report was made on the VHF net the next morning, where another cruiser confirmed their dinghy had been stolen overnight. A police report was made and the video provided to authorities.
