Incident Details: A yacht owner heard some suspicious noise overnight and awoke to investigate and found the heavy lock /cable securing their outboard to the in-the-water dinghy had been defeated, and the transom clamps loosened. Apparently the well prepared thieves abandoned their attempt and later found another victim, see report 3635.

Incident Details: A locked 5m center console AB dinghy / 60HP Suzuki engine stolen from the French lagoon near Nettle Bay. Incident Details: The center console boat was stolen from a marine business in Nettle Bay overnight. It was recovered by the owner the next day, with only minor damage and missing a large cooler. The Gendarmes were contacted and they collected evidence.

Incident Details: PRELIMINARY REPORT: The crew came back to the yacht after celebrating New Year's ashore to see that the wooden door of the companionway was broken and that the interior of the doghouse had been ransacked. Incident Details: A day charter boat berthed at Marina Royale was boarded around 0200HRS by a thief. The security system audible alarm activated, scared the thief and his image was captured by video. He was not able to steal the lifted/locked dinghy.

Incident Details: A yacht anchored on the French side of the lagoon experienced an attempted boarding at 0030HRS. The yacht's security alarm and lights were activated and scared the thieves away. The French police were called |and language made it very difficult. Video footage was sent online to the French authorities. The Dutch Coast Guard was called but the incident was outside their jurisdiction. ||Several hours later a yacht on the Dutch side of the lagoon also experienced a similar boarding, but theives were successful. See 3434. ||At 0430HRS the thieves returned for a second attempt. The 2 thieves were again captured in video surveillance, and arrived in a large dinghy with 2 engines. A small electric/trolling engine (for quiet approach) and a larger outboard for getaway. They again departed quickly when discovered apparently unconcerned about video surveillance made obvious by signage. Officials (Dutch and French) were again notified of the attempted boarding.

Incident Details: Owner left their locked dinghy for about 30 minutes at the Port Royal dock. When they returned and found it had been stolen they received assistance from another boat owner. Calls to the police were not answered, and when they called the fire department they were advised to make a report the next day. They utilized a tracker signal to locate the dinghy, at a Dutch-side waterfront marina bar. They retrieved it when the suspect fled on foot. It was loaded with tools and personal goods that had been stolen from a cruising boat, which were returned to their owner. A police statement was made.

Incident Details: After a late dinner owners were unable to start the engine so left their dinghy overnight locked to the marina dock. When they returned at 0500HRS to retrieve it, they discovered it had been stolen. Using an AirTag, they located the dinghy at the Dutch Coast Guard. It had been intercepted by them during the early morning hours. A police report was made and the dinghy was returned to the owner.
