Incident Details: A well locked 20HP outboard (Honda BF20 serial number BAMJ-1034680) was stolen from its well locked RIB dinghy at the sand spit near the head of Chemin Bay overnight . Tools were required and some damage was noted by the owner. A report was made to the police and the coast guard.

Incident Details: Overnight, an engineless 8ft. Caribe dinghy was stolen from the deck of a yacht in the bay. The dinghy was on the fore deck and chain locked to a cleat on the mast. The caretaker discovered that the thief had come prepared with tools and had removed the cleat.

Incident Details: An unoccupied yacht on a mooring was burglarized between 16-24 April. The minder discovered the break-in, thieves cut several locks on lazarettes and the companionway. Tools were used to remove 2 winches in the cockpit, also stolen were 15HP Yamaha, handheld VHF, dive gear, safety gear, a new uninstalled lithium battery still in its box, other items. The minder made a police report.

Incident Details: Overnight a Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) was stolen from the deck of a yacht anchored between Sandy and Paradise islands. It was properly secured to the yacht with the leash. A search of the area where wind/waves would have taken it was conducted, but without positive result.

Incident Details: A Walker Bay dinghy tied to the Tyrrel Bay Marina dinghy dock was stolen overnight. Friends of the owner noticed a similar dinghy tied to a boat at Sandy Island. They investigated and discovered it was the stolen dinghy, based on its unique/custom lifting hardware. The rubber pontoons had been removed and a black cove stripe had been painted on the dinghy. After some "discussion" the dinghy was taken by the friends and returned to the owners. The police were called and indicated they would come to the boat for the report.

Incident Details: Owners left their catamaran on the hard at Clarke's Court Bay Boatyard in June 2019, when they returned in January 2020 the office staff was unable to locate the keys that had been left with the office staff. Key control procedures were clearly not in place/operational. The keys were eventually located by the owners in the possession of their (offsite) hired minders/guardianage company. ||The yachts 110lb watermaker was stolen during the storage period. Hoses and electrical connections had been severed, and all the holding bolts removed. Access to the watermaker was via an external engine compartment, which was not locked. Photos provided by the guardianage company did not include the area of the engine compartment where the watermaker was installed, so were not helpful in pinpointing the time of the theft. No video surveillance was present in this storage area.||The owners reported the theft to the boatyard office, and contacted the police. The police sent 2 detectives who talked with the victims, but took no photos or any forensics, despite the offer of the owners to preserve the scene. The owner visited the police department a few days later, paid a small administrative fee (US $3) and was promised an email copy of the report, which has not yet been received.

Incident Details: A catamaran anchored surrounded by 50+ yachts in the area near Ross point was boarded overnight while owners slept onboard. One crew member was sleeping in the unlit cockpit, another in a cabin below. The boarder/thief entered through the fully open salon door.

The theft was discovered in the early morning Sunday when the crew member attempted to find the phone. Also missing was a backpack which had contained miscellaneous items including a headlamp and wallet (cash, credit cards, passports, identity documents).

A complete police report was made the next morning (Monday) with the assistance of a friend/translator on a yacht anchored nearby in this popular anchorage off St. George’s. The police indicated that a forensics investigator would visit the yacht later that day, which did not happen. A passing Coast Guard boat (unaware of what had happened) was hailed down, and they explained that only the police could conduct the required onboard forensics investigation. No investigators communicated or arrived and the yacht departed.
