2481 – Theft in Belize – Dangriga

Incident Details: A yacht arrived in Dangriga about 0300HRs and anchored just outside the river, about 300 meters from shore. The crew did not lock the companionway and went to bed. The next morning they discovered they had been boarded, a thief had entered the yacht and stole a backpack (containing a laptop) and also a pair of sunglasses from the cockpit. Another laptop and cellphone sitting on the nav station were not taken. A police report was made the next day and the crew completed their checkout with officials.

2468 – Burglary in Dominican Republic – Luperon

Incident Details: A thief broke the companionway hasp to gain entry to a locked yacht in the bay between 7-9PM. An alarm was triggered and this apparently startled the thief and scared them away. Nothing was taken. A report was made to the (tourist) police.

2466 – Burglary in Dominican Republic – Luperon

Incident Details: A yacht on a mooring in the bay was burglarized between 6-10PM while the crew was ashore. The thief broke into the boat via the companionway door. Cash and jewelry were stolen. Reports were made to all authorities – The Navy/commandante, the police and the tourist police. No forensics were conducted.||CSSN NOTE: This is the 6th report of boarding/break-in from Luperon bay in 2020. Cruisers and the Navy have begun nighttime patrols.

2464 – Theft in Saint Martin (France) – Grand Case

Incident Details: Owners left the locked dinghy with 3-4 other dinghies at the dinghy dock at about 4PM, and deployed their stern anchor. When they returned an hour later they discovered the anchor rode had been cut and the stainless anchor stolen.
